Many people like to shave after a hot shower, which is ideal as we've just warmed and cleansed our facial skin and hair. But it's also a good idea to skip the shower and smooth a warm towel over the area to be shaved, or simply splash hot water on it to prepare the ground!\nAlso use water to prepare the lather, soaking the brush sufficiently before applying a rich lather, or even mixing the cream in a separate foam bowl.<\/p>\n

A brush is something that (with good care and a little sweet talk) will last for years, even decades. Just make sure you rinse it well with a swipe to rinse out excess water.<\/p>\n

Razor, razor knife<\/h4>\n

The single-blade razor - as long as it's sharp - really does a perfect job on its own, and is far less irritating to the skin than anything we've tried before. Sure, you can opt for 5-blade razors advertised with star footballers, but they'll never give you the experience and feel of a traditional straight razor. We recommend the straight razor, which is super precise, masculine and awesome. Yes, the kind that can be sharpened on buttocks without scaring off the female company, in the kind of way you see in Hollywood westerns. A less intimidating option, but gaining ground, is the use of safety razors. This is the kind where you insert a double-edged disposable blade. You just switch the sides of the razor while removing the hair and rinsing it slightly. With our safety razor, we experimented with a number of blades to find the one that perfectly suits our skin, and yes, it's a beautiful thing.<\/p>\n

After shave toner, after shave<\/h4>\n

Traditionally, you can finish your shave by splashing cold water on your face, if it soothes the shaved area sufficiently. However, if your skin is soft and sensitive, it is advisable to use an after shave, one that refreshes and nourishes the skin, reducing irritation.<\/p>\n
